Senior Swimming

SELECT TRAINING GROUP (10-12 year olds) 11 month programs Sept -July

This in an introduction to senior level swimming. Swimmers are expected to attend a minimum of 4 practices per week. Must be able to swim the acceptance set at the time of evaluation and have a strong foundation of all four competitive strokes. Meet participation is required in at least 4 meets per year.
Parent(s), swimmer and coach will meet to discuss seasonal goals. Swimmers are selected for this group.

BRONZE, SILVER, or GOLD TRAINING (13 & OVER)

SDS provides these options for swimmers who want to continue swimming after they become too old for the Age Group and Select programs, but aren't quite ready to commit to Senior level training.

Bronze Group: 3 practices offered per week
9 month program (Sept-May)
Swimmers should be proficient in free and back for distances of at least 50 yards and be legal in breast or fly for a distance of at least 25 yards.
No minimum practice requirement. Attend when you can!
Meet participation is encouraged, but not required.
No pressure from the coach to attend practices or meets.

Silver Training Group: 4 practices offered each week (both morning and/or afternoon sessions).
9 month program (Sept-May)
Swimmers should be proficient in all strokes for distances of 50 yards or longer.
No minimum practice requirement. Attend when you can!
Meet participation is encouraged, but not required.

Gold Training Group:  5-6 practices each week (both morning and afternoon sessions).
11 month program (Sept- July)
Must attend at least 5 practices per week.
Must be able to complete acceptance set at time of evaluation.
Meet participation is required in at least 4 meets per year.
Expected to be the "lane leaders" at practice.
Parent(s), swimmer and coach will meet to discuss seasonal goals.

SENIOR TRAINING GROUP (14 and older)
11 month program Sept – July.
This group is for committed and motivated 13 and over swimmers willing to prepare for the higher levels of competition.
Practices are offered 6 days a week and attendance at at least 7 practices weekly is expected.
Swimmers must be able to complete the acceptance set at time of evaluation.
The coaching staff selects members of this group.
